Based on 351 randomly selected properties from the Portfolio Management Services' investment property portfolio, this independent assessment showed:
- The internal rate of return on ungeared investment property in the portfolio was 15.1% pa. Where the investor geared the property to 66% the return improved significantly to 22.6%.
- The Portfolio Management Services' investment property portfolio outperformed the All Industrial Accumulation Index and the Listed Property Trust Sector Index, as well as the average of the Sydney and Melbourne housing markets.
- The Portfolio Management Services' investment property portfolio outperformed the All Industrial Accumulation Index and the Listed Property Trust Sector Index, as well as the average of the Sydney and Melbourne housing markets
- Low Risk: Portfolio Management Services' residential investment property portfolio ranked second lowest for risk and volatility in the asset class over the study period, with only Ten Year Treasury Bonds providing a lower risk.
